A street food festival in Cape Town? Yup, no jokes! This Sunday, 4 September 2016, the second ever Street Food Festival will be hosted at East Side Studios in Woodstock. Last year I attended the Food Talks entrepreneurial workshop, but this year I’m going for the food alone. Excite!
A celebration of Cape Town’s food trucks
I’m so excited to eat my way through some of Cape Town’s most beloved food trucks including Hoghouse, Hudson’s, Yum Dim Sum, Wicked Waffle, Crumbs and Cream, and morrrre! But more so, I’m looking forward to sampling food from food trucks I’ve never seen before such as Santa Anna’s, who apparently do banging comfort food inspired by the American deep south.
The Food Talks were fun last year, but when I ventured out after the workshop was done, it was hard to find any good nosh still in stock. This year I plan on enjoying a debaucherous Sunday Funday filled with ALL the food.
Last year’s Food Talks
Speaking of the workshop, we paid R300 per ticket. This year? R550! Quite the hefty price hike right? But if you’re keen on hearing from this year’s speakers, I’m sure it will be as enlightening as last year’s was. I was super lucky to hear from food and media legends such as Abigail Donnelly of Taste magazine, Karen Dudley of The Kitchen, and Uno De Waal of Between 10 and 5. You can check out this year’s speakers HERE.
